The Best Restaurants in Les Arcs: Our Favourite Mountain Stops
A great ski day deserves a great lunch. Sometimes that means pasta on a sunny terrace. Sometimes it is a quick snack before the next chairlift, a proper coffee or an afternoon that turns into dancing in your ski boots.
At YourMountainLife, we believe these moments are part of what makes a mountain holiday special. So we have brought together our favourite restaurants, cafés and bars across Les Arcs and the connected Peisey-Vallandry area.
This is our personal shortlist: where we would send you for good food, a beautiful setting or just the right atmosphere.
Les Chalets de l’Arc: A Special Lunch on a Beautiful Terrace
If we were choosing somewhere for a slightly more elegant mountain lunch, Les Chalets de l’Arc would be high on our list.
The traditional chalet setting, generous mountain cooking and terrace facing the Aiguille Rouge make this somewhere to settle in rather than rush through. Inside, the fireplace adds to the atmosphere; outside, the view gives you every reason to linger.
The restaurant’s wood-fired cooking and signature homemade bread add to the appeal. For us, this is one of the most beautiful terraces for a long lunch in Les Arcs.
Go here for: A memorable lunch, mountain views and a little extra occasion.
Bulle Café: Drinks and Watching the Skiers Go By
Bulle Café is one of those places where a quick drink can easily become a longer break.
Take a seat, enjoy the mountain setting and watch your friends ski past while you give your legs a rest. It is a lovely option when some of the group want another run and others are perfectly happy staying put.
On the slopes around Arc 2000, Bulle Café also offers plenty of reasons to stay for lunch, with seafood, tapas and pizzas among its specialities.
Go here for: A relaxed drink, sharing food and watching life on the slopes.
L’Arc Doré: A Budget-Friendly Stop in Arc 1950
A good ski lunch does not always need to be a long sit-down meal.
For a simpler stop, ski into Arc 1950 and head to L’Arc Doré for a snack and a coffee. It is one of our suggestions when you want to keep lunch spending down and save more of the day for skiing.
There is something especially enjoyable about taking a short break in the village before heading back out. Grab something delicious, warm up with a coffee and get ready for the next few runs.
Go here for: A quick snack, good coffee and lunch on a budget.
La Fragola di Neve: Our Favourite for Pasta and a Sunny Break
La Fragola di Neve is our pick when the conversation on the chairlift turns to pasta.
At the foot of the Derby chairlift, this mountain restaurant brings Italian flavours to the Peisey-Vallandry side of the ski area. Its chef draws inspiration from Piedmont, making it a lovely place to try something different during your week in the French Alps.
For us, the setting is a big part of the attraction. The Derby area is one of our favourite places to ski, with beautiful runs through the trees and different options for skiers of varying abilities.
It is particularly useful on a day when everyone wants a different pace. Some can head out for another lap while others enjoy a longer lunch on the sunny terrace. Agree on a meeting point, choose runs that suit your ability and come back together over good food.
Go here for: Pasta, sunshine and an easy meeting place for a group.
Bar Mont Blanc: A Friendly Pub and a Sociable Terrace
Sometimes the best lunch spot is the one where you immediately feel comfortable.
Bar Mont Blanc in Vallandry has that welcoming British pub atmosphere, with casual lunch food and a terrace made for catching up with friends. It is our choice when the conversation matters just as much as the skiing.
It also has a lively side, with events and a weekly live-band night adding to the atmosphere during the season. Check the current programme while you are here, it is worth planning an evening around.
Go here for: Pub food, a friendly terrace and live music.
Le Rôkh Café: Our Favourite Coffee Close to Home
This one is particularly close to our hearts and our doorstep.
Next to our Chalet Le Rôkh, Le Rôkh Café is our personal pick for the best coffee in the ski area. Whether you are heading out for the day or coming back ready for a break, it is a lovely place to stop.
From pizzas to pâtisserie, there are tempting options for both hungry skiers and anyone who simply wants something sweet with their coffee.
For guests staying at Chalet Le Rôkh, having this nearby makes a coffee stop an easy part of the daily routine. A slow morning, a quick catch-up or a treat after skiing: there is always a good excuse.
Go here for: Our favourite coffee, pizza and pâtisserie beside Chalet Le Rôkh.
La Folie Douce Les Arcs: Our Pick for Après-Ski
There are days for quiet lunches, and there are days for La Folie Douce.
Our favourite choice for a lively afternoon in Les Arcs combines food, music and dancing. Think pizza, burgers and fries before getting into the party atmosphere, with ski boots still firmly on.
Located above Arc 1800, it brings together dining and live entertainment in a setting that feels unmistakably part of a ski holiday. Come with friends, enjoy the show and leave room in your afternoon for a little spontaneity.
Go here for: A lively lunch that turns into après-ski.
Aux Enfants Terribles: Traditional Mountain Lunch in Vallandry
For traditional mountain food on the Peisey-Vallandry side, add Aux Enfants Terribles to your list.
This mountain chalet restaurant offers regional French and Savoyard cooking, including cheese specialities, alongside other options. It is a good address to consider when you want a proper lunch and time around the table together.
Make it part of a day exploring Vallandry, and give lunch enough room in the plan to enjoy the setting as well as the food.
Go here for: Traditional mountain cooking and a leisurely lunch.
Arcus Coffee: Brunch and a Slower Start
Not every day in the mountains needs to begin with the first lift.
Arcus Coffee in Arc 1800 is a lovely option for breakfast, brunch or a coffee break. Its coffee-shop approach offers a change of pace from the traditional mountain restaurant, with pancakes, açaí bowls, fresh juices and savoury choices among the Arcus offering.
Keep it in mind for a rest day, a relaxed morning or a meeting with friends who are spending the day away from the pistes.
Go here for: Brunch, coffee and a gentle start to the day.
Le Sanglier qui Fume: Wood-Fired Food and Mountain Views
Le Sanglier qui Fume is an address to keep in mind when you want lunch to be a highlight of the day.
Located on the slopes around Arc 1600, the restaurant puts wood-fired cooking and smoked meats at the centre of its offering, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and local sourcing where possible.
The mountain views give you another reason to take your time. It is a particularly appealing choice when someone in the group loves a generous meal and the thought of food cooked over fire.
Go here for: Wood-fired cooking, smoked flavours and a scenic lunch.
Where Will You Stop First?
The best restaurant in Les Arcs depends on the day you want to have.
For dancing, we would choose La Folie Douce. For a special terrace lunch, Les Chalets de l’Arc. For pasta and a relaxed afternoon near the Derby, La Fragola di Neve. And for a coffee close to our chalet, Le Rôkh Café is our favourite.
Menus, opening times and event programmes can change during the season. Check directly with your chosen venue, book ahead for a special lunch and keep an eye on the lifts you need to get home.
